Then i've added the line c:\bootsect.lnx="Debian Linux" to XPs boot.ini. Now i get the message "boot failure" when i select Linux from the XP boot menu. I guess the Linux boot loader is looking for the boot image (vmlinuz ??)? Where is it? Or better, how can i tell this to 'bootsect.lnx' ;-) Booting from my rescue

My partitions are something like this: 85 GB: NTFS with Win XP 5 GB: FAT32, empty so far 10 GB: Linux partitions I am currently dual-booting between Linux and Win XP using the XP (NT) boot-loader. There are a couple of ways to go here, since you're using XP. I run XP also, but installed it as an upgrade so didn't go through the DOS section of the setup. This process will place the boot loader (ntldr) and other necessary files on the drive, and proceed to install the operating system.

I've had machines over the time, and currently have a triple-boot system with XP Home, Pro and Vista. When I turn on I have to go through Vista's boot loader and select 'Earlier Version', then XP's boot loader. I will be using the 250G disk mostly as I will be booting xp /linux mostly. partition thats bootable. then after all the windows installs you can then feel free to slice up teh linux partitions as you choose and use your boot loader.
